great kitchens
has a
staff of highly qualified Designers and a
Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD).
We provide professional quality design services
to all our clients.
As A Professional Design firm, trained and experienced in the design of Kitchens,
Baths and Other Areas, we want to spend the fullest time and talent needed to
study your lifestyle, ask questions and make evaluations to assist us in designing for You.
This design phase is crucial in developing the correct plan and investment to fit your
requirements as closely as possible.
For this professional service, we charge a retainer fee of $700.00 for
the work as outlined below. The amount paid is credited when the appropriate order is
placed.
REMODELING WORK:
We will measure your existing areas including adjacent spaces that may be affected by the
proposed revisions, prepare drawings of existing areas with sketches of various options
and suggested modifications, and prepare final drawings including plan, elevations and
perspective of the preferred scheme.
We will prepare cost quotation of cabinets and countertops required to remodel the
existing space.
We will provide the above data at consultation meetings to review the total project and
make any revisions required to allow implementation of the Sales Agreement.
NEW HOMES:
We will work with your preliminary plans or final drawings to assist your builder to
properly construct the space for the best kitchen or bath design and function. All of the
services as outlined in "Remodeling Work" above are included except field
measurements which normally take place after the sale but before the cabinets are placed
into production. No construction estimates are required or provided.
OWNERSHIP OF DRAWINGS:
Until a Sales Agreement is completed the drawings or sketches are the property of
great kitchens. If the drawings or sketches are removed from the showroom by the client
before the Sales Agreement is implemented, it is understood and agreed that the hourly
charge for professional time, (beyond the four hours covered under the retainer fee), and
talent expended on the preparation of the documents are accepted, approved and will be
paid by the client.
Hourly charges take place if there is no purchase of cabinets or other work from
great kitchens or if the purchases do not approximate the dollar amount shown on the
retainer fee agreement.
HOURLY CHARGES:
Hourly charges of $50.00 for design time and $25.00 for drafting and office support
services will be charged for purchase of the preliminary or final drawings or for
additional architectural or drafting services.
CREDIT FOR ALL AMOUNTS PAID:
Upon placing the order for the work as agreed upon, the retainer fee paid will be credited
against the total sales agreement amount.
CERTIFIED KITCHEN DESIGNERS:
Certified Kitchen Designers (CKDs) and Certified Bathroom Designers (CBDs)
specialize in the design, planning and execution of kitchens,
bathrooms and other built-in units throughout the home. Only a select
group of expert designers attain the CKD and/or CBD designation(s).
CKDs and CBDs, while an integral part of the interior design
profession, are also distinctly different because of their
specialization of practice. Similar to general interior design
practitioners, CKDs and CBDs must meet common core educational
requirements, adhere to various legal restrictions and regulations in
practice, and follow professional codes of ethics. However, beyond
these basic core commonalties, distinct differences exist because of
the nature of the space to be designed and close relationship with the
user (client).
The planning of kitchen and bathroom spaces requires unique design
skills and knowledge because of the highly technical nature of the
equipment incorporated into them, and the personal way that these
environments affect the user. The CKD and/or CBD is competent beyond
the minimum interior design qualifications of federal and state legal
codes and requirements. CKDs/CBDs prove advanced knowledge of
technical and personal communication skills required to succeed as a
design specialist in residential kitchen, bathroom and other built-in
environments.
